Wrongful Convictions
There are over 2,300,000 people in the US prisons. There are over 300,000 innocent prisoners.
Why? We have a justice system that is seriously flawed. If you are poor you have little chance of getting a good lawyer who can clear you.
The system is more corrupt than most of you realize. You have cops that plant evidence and use whatever means necessary to get you to confess. You have prosecutors that do not care about the truth and will do anything necessary to get a conviction. You have judges who will do what they can to get a conviction. You have public defenders that are incompetent, lazy and have no business practicing law, many work for the prosecution.
It is easier to convict an innocent person. It is harder for an innocent person to get freedom.
Witnesses lie, sometimes too save themselves. Many cases have a star witness who actually committed the crime. Jail house snitches are lying to get a break. If they use a jailhouse snitch do not vote to convict because the defendant is in almost all cases innocent.
In child molestation cases the CPS officials will put words into the mouth of the children. An ex-spouse will do the same. In many cases when the child gets older their will recant and never get over the feeling of guilt.
In many rape cases the accuser has had consensual sex but was worried about getting caught by their husband or boyfriend. If they get pregnant by the guy they will accuse the father of rape.
Next to murder the two worst crimes are child molestation and rape. The prisoner faces beatings and the possibility of being murdered. The sad thing is that probably 25% of them are innocent.
